The 2024 Radyr Rangers Festival, headline sponsored by CR Electrics (SW) Ltd., takes place on June 8th at The Mound Field, Morganstown.

The Day

We look forward to welcoming all participating teams to The Mound Field, Morganstown for what will be a special day of football. We have an action packed programme with Under 8 and Under 10 teams attending in the morning session followed by Under 9 and Under 11 in the afternoon.

Getting Here, Parking and Registration

The Mound Field is located in Morganstown CF15 8LB. There will be limited parking available in the business parks on Ty Nant Rd and volunteers will be on hand to guide festival goers to the available slots, please be aware that there is strictly no parking available at The Mound itself, nor should anyone park in Pugh’s Garden Centre or the Ty Nant Inn.

The morning session (U8 and U10) starts at 9.30am and ends at 1pm. Please therefore make sure you have arrived and registered your team by 9.15am.

The afternoon session (U9 and U11) starts at 2pm, please make sure you have registered by 1.45pm.

The Football

Keep track of the time, matches are 15 minutes each, no half time, and a five minute turnaround between each match, the time keepers will be prompt and to the clock so be ready to go at kick off.

Max Squad size is up to 10 players, Games will be 5-a-side (U8 & U9) and 7-a-side (U10 & U11), with rolling subs, Players can only be registered for one team, Under FAW rules the minimum age for players is six years.

Team coaches must have registration details on Comet, as they could be asked for at any time during the Festival, Each game will last 15 minutes, played one way only, with no half-time break

There will only be a 5minute interval between games, The start of games on all pitches will be centralised, with the use of a hooter for the kick-off and full-time. Please be ready in plenty of time for kick-off!

Any queries or complaints should be raised by Team Managers to a member of the Festival committee, via the Welcome Desk.

Match Rules

Normal SFAW rules apply, except where differing below:

Games are 15 minutes with no half-time, No offside, All free kicks are indirect, Goalkeepers are allowed to pick up a back pass, Nearest player to be 3m away at kick off, free kicks and goal kicks; Every player must wear shin-pads, or they will be asked to leave the pitch by the supervising coaches.

Respect our referees; they are volunteers from the Radyr Rangers U14 & U15 teams and are still children. Match balls provided by RRFC. Any matters of dispute will be ruled over by the RRFC Festival Committee, This is ‘non-competitive’ football. There will be no winners or losers and no scores will be recorded.

Please be sure to check our festival fixtures update page before or during your session in case of changes to the running programme or teams pulling out late. Changes to competing teams or schedule will be marked here.

Stalls and Refreshments

We’ll have a range of food and drink refreshment stalls available, a pre-loved kit stall where you are certain to bag a bargain, the obligatory festival hairspray stall and our World Cup Trophy photo booth! So be sure to pay a visit in between matches.


We’ve a wonderful range if raffle prizes on offer but see below for the big one – a signed Cymru Football jersey framed and mounted, bag yourself a ticket on the day, you have to be in it to win it!
