Festival Footwear – Get Your Boots On

For those of you pulling on your team kits and heading down to the Radyr Rangers FC Festival on June 14th, here’s some information about timings and what footwear to wear on the day.
Timings
First up, the day will be split into morning and afternoon sessions.
The fun starts at 9.30 when the first set of matches gets underway. Please ensure you arrive by 9 am to register your teams.
The under-7s, under-9s, and under-10s age groups will be battling it out in the morning until 12:25 pm when the session ends.
Our under-5s and under-6s will be playing an exhibition match during the break between the morning and afternoon sessions.
Then, after a short hiatus, the afternoon session kicks off at 13:30 pm (register your teams from 13:00 pm) when the under-8s and under-11s will take to the pitch to compete for the coveted title of Radyr Rangers Festival champions until 16:45 pm.
At the end of each session, a medal ceremony will take place. Then, parents can take their children off for a well-earned Maccie Ds and to wash those smelly socks or simply throw them out of the car window on the way home.
Each match will last 15 minutes, with a 5-minute break between each one.
Footwear
Radyr Comprehensive is lucky enough to have two types of pitches – grass and a brand-spanking new 4G pitch, which is a thing of footballing beauty.
If you’re playing in an under-7s team, the 4G pitch will be your kingdom for the morning. It means you’ll only be able to wear certain types of boots to avoid damaging the playing surface. This video explains which boots are ok to wear and which must stay confined to the shoe pile at home. Unfortunately, the boot police will be patrolling the area, so please watch the video and only wear the boots Coach Rich says are ok.
All other age groups will be playing on grass, so firm, artificial, soft or multi-ground boots are acceptable, but no metal studs, please.
We look forward to welcoming you on the 14th!
